The Technion, Haifa & the state of Israel are glad to invite you to attend the 12th European Symposium on Organic Reactivity (ESOR XII), which will be held on the 6th-11th of September 2009 at the Technion campus in Haifa.

The ESOR symposia are dedicated to physical organic chemistry in its broader sense. Physical organic chemistry has undergone a tremendous change in the last few decades. From being a well-defined research area, it has spread into most fields of organic chemistry & related areas (e.g., organometallic chemistry, biochemistry, macromolecular chemistry, nano chemistry & more). Physical organic chemistry concepts, way of thinking & tools are regularly used in all the above-mentioned domains of research  & a great deal of physical organic chemistry research is in fact conducted by many chemists who do not define themselves as physical organic chemists.

ESOR XII will focus on physical organic chemistry studies & on the utilization of physical organic chemistry approaches & tools in all areas of organic chemistry, ranging from computational chemistry to enzymatic reactions, from catalysis to supramolecular & macromolecular chemistry & much more. Therefore, although ESOR conferences are defined as physical organic chemistry conferences, many chemists from various areas of research will find its contents interesting & stimulating.

The colorful environment of Haifa with its mixed Arab-Jewish population & the holy center of the Bahai religion, the proximity to historical sites like Acre in the north, Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee & Nazareth to the east & Caesarea to the south, promises an attractive off conference time. The comfortable weather & the beautiful beaches of Haifa produce a perfect blend for an enjoyable time to be spent by the accompanying persons as well as participants. Pre & post conference tours to those who are interested to see more of Israel will also be offered.
